The terra cotta color teapot with pale and dark blue overglaze enamels is a fine example of the larger teapots … Read more The terra cotta color teapot with pale and dark blue overglaze enamels is a fine example of the larger teapots used in tea houses and restaurants in the mid 19th century. The teapot has a short neck, a globular body and an elegant long spout, made for pouring. Due to the size, it has metal handles attached to the two lugs near the neck by wire rings. One side of the pot is decorated with a bird resting on a branch with two magnolia buds and the other is a flower branch with a large flower. Rings of alternating pale blue and darker blue lines encircle the shoulder and near the base. A band of cloud shaped lappets complete the decor of the shoulder.
