Originating in Bologna, Italy, circa 1960s, featuring an innovative sculptural boat-form,
having two joined exotic highly figured matched rosewood shelves forming the bow with glass viewing panels, over ship hull shaped cabinet with two portholes and a pair of painted open shelves, affixed with a bottle opener, patinated gilt metal trim throughout, rising on metal-capped tapered black legs. No apparent signatures, the iconic, well documented design attributed to the celebrated Italian modernist designer Umberto Mascagni, typical of the period and other known examples.
