This really is an Exceptionally Nice Looking Antique American Country Primitive Stoneware Jug. Circa Mid 19th Century. Classic Beehive Form - Very Desirable Small 1 Gallon Size. The Classic American Salt Glaze Exterior is Artistically Hand Decorated with a Wonderful Large Cobalt Blue Stylized Flower Sprig. The Front is Embossed With the Well Documented Makers Name - Reads "A.B. WHEELER & CO. BOSTON MASS. These. Smaller Size Jugs were Commonly Used to Store a Variety of Liquids - Spirits - Liquor - Ciders - Vinegar - Spring Water Etc. Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made - Intended For Everyday Utilitarian Use. It is in Exceptionally Good All Original Condition and it Displays Beautifully. No Damage - No Repairs. There is Some Slight Color Variation to the Glaze and a Couple Minor Surface Spots - Stains at the Base Area but These are Kiln Glaze Imperfections That would have Occurred in the Making - Kiln Firing Process. These Types of Surface Marks are Quite Common as These Types of Stoneware Items were Fired in Multiple Batches in Large Size Kilns.
It Measures Overall Approx 11 inches Tall x 7 3/4 inches Wide - Long.
