Louis xv style vernis martin cartel clock and thermometer, circa 1740. A very fine and palatial of french 18 century louis xv style vernis martin and gilt bronze-mounted cartel clock . Surmounted with gilt bronze ornaments depicting scrolls, acanthus and floral bouquets with fruits. The mounting thermometer signed 1740 circularcartouche gilt bronze dial with a glass cover. The case is gilded wood.overall decorated with painted flowers arround and allegory of science.in working condition with its pendulum and key. Very good condition overall. Size:114 x 35 x 14 cm. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
