Sailor's Woolwork of Royal Navy Second Rate Battleship Coming into Port,
Circa 1865
The British sailor's woolwork has a dramatic view of a Royal Navy Second Rate Battleship coming into port dynamically, showing a starboard view from the front, along the hull, with the ship bearing down on the viewer.
The ship is under full sail and creates waves along her hull as she sails across a dark blue still sea. She flies the White Ensign from her mizzen mast. As she comes into land, she passes a lighthouse positioned out on a point to her starboard side. Three small sailing ships can be seen out to sea. To her portside in the distance, another sailing ship is rounding a point and coming into view.
The wool has Museum UV glass and has a maple frame.
