One of several pieces from the same vendor, all listed separately in our shop — including a large soup tureen, a sauce tureen set with underplate, and a deep-well meat platter, all in the same rose floral on white.
The form is characteristic of formal French dinner service: a deep diamond-shaped dish with a fully scalloped Rococo rim, molded scrollwork cartouches at each corner, and a sculptural fan-and-scroll cartouche at the base — an elegant finishing detail that lifts this well above standard production work. Pieces of this shape were used for side dishes, entremets, or sweet courses in the elaborate service à la française that defined early 19th-century French dining.
The rose floral decoration — scattered bouquets and small sprigs in warm deep pink against white — is light and well-spaced across the interior, with a fine rose pinstripe tracing the scalloped edge throughout.
In excellent antique condition throughout.
