You are considering an antique Handarbeit German Lantern Style Decanter With A.G. Der Gerresheimer Glashuttenwerk Bottle & Buhler Swiss Music Box.

This unique item has been hand restored to current condition, while preserving some tarnished areas for authenticity. There are minor imperfections consistent with age, though no significant flaws.

It appears to be all original with no modifications/repairs to the body. The bottle stopper is unlikely original as it's made of plastic. It reads, "Sparkle-top Pat Pend". The bottle is in pristine condition, but some sediment remains from left over old rum. The housing bottom is stamped on two sides- one reading Handarbeit, and the other made in Germany. Bottle is stamped with the Glashuttenwerk crown logo.

These decanters show up occasionally, though are mostly the brass or bronze versions. Later productions(various manufacturers?)were plated in those finishes. This early example is solid copper.

The glass manufacturer has a long rich history in Germany, and are still in business today, making some headlines back in 2014 when a bottle storage bunker was rediscovered on their property during soil remediation work.

The musical movement was made by Buhler of Switzerland. The song is unknown, and no information on them could be traced. The movement was serviced/lubed and plays until fully unwound.

This measures 3" wide x 2.5" deep x 8.5" tall with cap and weighs 1.15 lbs.
