This piece is characterized by the complex "Shanghai weave" technique, which features tightly hand-woven natural wicker and rattan over a wood frame.

It is heavily associated with mid-century Palm Beach Regency, boho-chic, and Hollywood Regency interior aesthetics. Many similar stylistic variations from this era are attributed to or inspired by the renowned Mexican artist Mario Lopez Torres.
