Inspired by Chinese Longquan and Ge wares of the Ming Dynasty, this hand-potted crock, large bowl or planter features a … Read more Inspired by Chinese Longquan and Ge wares of the Ming Dynasty, this hand-potted crock, large bowl or planter features a wide top opening with an inward lipped mouth rim, and slightly rounded sides gradually tapering to the base. The exterior sides are covered with celadon glaze which stops right above the edges of the bottom. The glaze is suffused with a network of fine black crackles under a clear transparent coating. The interior is glazed in black. The foot ring and the edges of the bottom is applied with a brownish-dark slip, the unglazed base is burnt to orange during the kiln firing. The bowl is in overall good condition with full characters of the age and craftsmanship, some glaze unevenness, skipping, pinholes and discoloration can be expected. There are also some minor wear and scuffs on the surface and the top rim from the age and use. It is truly an ideal rustic vessel for both modern and traditional homes.
