Alluring gilt metal mantel clock in "Japonisme" style; an artistic movement influenced by Japanese aesthetics. Made in 1895 by Curtis & Horspool, Paris.
Crowned with a caddy top adorned with four flaming finials and a central urn-shaped finial, the clock is a visual delight. The Shibayama designs that grace its surface showcase a vibrant array of birds, butterflies, and intricate floral motifs. The colorful figures really make this piece stand out as well as its regal gilt wood plinth while a commemorative plaque dating back to 1895 adds historical significance.
Signed "Curtis & Horspool" and includes stamp from the producer.
