The small writing furniture stands on angular, conical fusses, the fields of which are filled with corrugated, gold -plated brass sheets. At the base of the legs, below the table top, there are only two cannelurs, which are struck out with gold -plated brass sheets, which is extremely unusual. To the right and left there are two small drawers on each, in the middle a larger drawer that is final. The rounded corner winds are also filled with corrugated, gold -plated brass sheets. The handling of all subjects is designed as a simple round, gold -plated brass signs with zugringe. The key shield of the middle thrust is a round, corrugated and gilded mesing sheet. The small drawer at the bottom right is expanded as a secret compartment by folding away in half of the entire depth and then releasing two small compartments on top of each other. Between the drawers and the sheet of the table there is a narrow final compartment that must be pulled out and a writing plate has. Traces on the underside of the table leaf or. The inside of the back wall of the furniture suggests that it originally had a mechanism that had the final writing plate revealed when it was released. This friction plate still has the original leather covering of the manufacturing time.
Classification;_
Due to the corrugated, gold -plated brass plates in the decoration and the traces of a former mechanism, the furniture is clearly assigned to the late style of David Roentgen. Who handle very easily, as well as the very unusual use of only two cannelers at the upper end of the feet could also be on the Francial marriages C.C. Sauanier (Master 1752) in Paris, who worked in a very similar style with David Roentgen at the same time. As a whole, it is a particularly beautiful writing furniture of the late 18th century in good condition. A crack in the upper table top should be observed, but currently does not require restoration.
