The frames are solid wood with a beautiful walnut colored finish. I believe the gold details are brass but could also be gold plated metal. Either way, the finish is really wonderful. Currently the seats are upholstered in a mustard velvet but I would recommend reupholstery as the padding is worn and the velvet fabric color doesn't quite match anymore. Very sturdy and well-made.
