This Really is a Very Nice Looking Original Antique American Primitive Stoneware Storage Jug. Circa Late 19th Century. This type of Jug was typically for Cider - Hard Cider - Liquor - Spirits Etc. Based on its size it would appear to be a 1 Gallon Jug ( Not Marked ). This is a Completely Hand Made Piece of Stoneware. It has a very nice Navy - Dark Cobalt Blue Hand Decorated Stylized Design on the front on a Sand Color Salt Glazed Exterior. It has no maker marks. It is most likely from the Up State New York or Northern New England Region. It is in Very Good Strong - Sound Condition with No Cracks - No Chips - No Repairs - Displa ys Beautifully. It has Minimal Kiln Glaze Imperfections that Includes Spot at the Back Side Lower Base Perimeter and a Small "Iron Ping" Surface Chip at the Center Right of Blue Decoration That Occurred in the Making - Firing Process. This is Quite Common as these Types of Stoneware Items were Produced in Batches with Multiple Other Pieces at at The Same Time in a Large Size Kilns. Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made For Everyday - Utilitarian Use.
It Measures Overall Approx. 11 inches Tall x 7 3/4 inches Wide - Long.
