Thanksgiving kitsch done exceptionally well.
Made by Lane & Co. of Van Nuys, California in 1958, this oversized ceramic platter centers a wonderfully dimensional turkey rendered in earthy green, russet, brown and cream. Raised autumn leaves flank either side, while a softly scalloped perimeter gives the substantial platter an almost sculptural profile.
At more than 20 inches long, it has the scale to anchor a Thanksgiving table but is just as compelling displayed vertically on a plate stand, sideboard or mantel. The combination of California pottery, wonderfully specific 1958 date and unmistakably mid-century interpretation of traditional holiday imagery makes this one particularly fun to collect.

Measures 20.25” long, 15” deep and 1.5” tall.
In good vintage condition overall. One small blemish to the turkey’s belly/feather area and an area of chipped color on the reverse of one side handle. Minor additional wear consistent with age.
