Hi,
This is a set of eight (8) - 9-3/4", Guerrieri Ceramiches, hand painted, pottery, dinner plates. They were made in Murano, Italy, I believe in the 1950's or early 1960's. They have a white background with sporadic flowers and teal green / blue leaves on the face of the plate. The edges are scalloped. These plates are rare. I could not find any more sets like this, from this maker.
This company, Guerrieri Ceramiches, was started, in Murano, Italy, by Giulio Guerrieri, in 1930. In 1934 he asked his brother Archimede, an expert decorator painter, to join him in the factory. In 1937, the company became "Giulio e Archimede Guerrieri. The brothers hired famous decorators and painters, such as Umberto Bellotto, Giuliana Bogo, Giuseppe e Novello Rosso, Umberto Soldà and Emilio Vedova to design their ceramics. The factory finally closed in 1964.
These dinner plates are in very good, used condition. They do not have any usage marks. The only issue that I can see is that some of them have slight loss of the white glaze on the back, around the bottom rim. Check out photo # 7, and you can see. There are two plates in this picture. One has a tiny flake of the glaze missing. The other seems more like a factory defect. You need to see for yourself. The plates are still lovely. They have just been used, and are not perfect.
I WILL SELL HALF (4) OF THESE, IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED. Just let me know, and I will set it up.
Make sure to look at all the photos, and if you have questions, please message me.
Thanks.
Lurleen Carter
