An important rare & beautiful and original antique French Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze Mounted boudoir or mantle clock. Crafted from white marble mounted with ormolu (finely gilded bronze). The face of the clock is daintily painted with floral swags between the numbers on porcelain enamel and comes complete with its original finely fretted gilt brass hands. The case is surmounted by an impressive urn finial, while four smaller finials top the four marble pillars that support the movement. The classical pillars are wrapped with swag foliage The whole piece is mounted on a shaped marble base, embellished with ormolu frieze of children playing on bottom of base. Early 20th C. The circular enamel dial having Arabic numerals. The wire sundial is decorated with a radiant cherub in finely chased bronze.
