Striking and sculptural Hollywood Regency–style figural monkey étagère, featuring richly detailed bronze monkeys climbing the frame and supporting five substantial glass shelves accented with brass gallery rails and finials. The playful figural elements are balanced by refined materials, including thick, heavy glass shelving and a leather-wrapped frame embossed in a woven basket pattern.
This piece is attributed to Maitland-Smith, based on its construction, materials, and distinctive figural aesthetic, and was acquired from a designer source. While no maker’s mark is present, the quality and design are consistent with Maitland-Smith’s well-known decorative style.
Extraordinary bronze monkeys highlight the lower tiers, with additional monkey head finials crowning the upper shelf, giving the piece visual interest from every angle. Designed as both functional shelving and sculptural décor, this étagère works beautifully as a statement display, bar shelving, or focal point in Palm Beach Regency, eclectic, or maximalist interiors.
Dimensions: 43.5” W x 16.5” D x 84” H to top of finials; 73.25” H to top shelf. Glass shelves measure approximately 3/8” thick.

Only noticeable up close looking for it. There is also a spot of discoloration on the side of the left back post, shown in pictures. On the back of the piece itself is a little bit of paint on both posts, so not noticeable at all when against a wall. One tiny tear in leather on back horizontal beam, about 1/4" wide or less mostly hidden by the glass. This listing may be for a vintage/antique item or set, meaning there will be some wear signs of use and is common due to age.
