Practically crafted chair with a simple yet effective … Read more Antique Low Back Polychrome Splint Weave Shaker-Style Chair, Circa Early 20th Century. Practically crafted chair with a simple yet effective design. Handmade with four posts, a singular bent backrest and two levels of dowel stretchers for added support. The back posts are leveled to rest comfortably against the back. Lower front stretchers have been naturally shaped through usage over time, beautifully revealing the painted layers beneath. The body shows numerous layers of paint through natural wear and time. Now, predominantly brown with green, red and white coming through. The seat is made of handwoven wood splints, tightly bound in a herringbone pattern.

Condition: Excellent antique condition, naturally occurring wear commensurate with age and use (as pictured). Seat is fully intact, one strap presents a small break which does not affect the stability of the piece.
