Large Majolica Palissy tobacco jar attributed to Thomas Sergent, circa 1880 unsigned.
Naturalistic movement of the end of 19th century. The jar have the shape of a trunk with a bird threatened by a snake , the hand of the lid is a mushroom. The School of Paris was composed by makers as Victor Barbizet, Francois Maurice, Thomas Sergent, Georges Pull, it's a group of ceramists who produced Palissy pieces at the, end of 19th century.
