We are reminded of the craft and tools used to bottle medicines in a 19th century apothecary or hospital by this wonderful corker beautifully crafted of wrought iron and specifically designed for ease of use. This tabletop piece of history is painted black and features an amber glass bottle and the original wooden lever handle. A maker’s or owner’s mark on the instrument’s side is hand pressed into the metal and reads “Systeme Decournial”. Endearingly rustic and quite sturdy, this corker perfectly embodies the time-honored tradition of preparing pharmaceuticals for fields of medicine near the turn of the century.
