The top or "bowl" of the piece is made up of a white flower in the center and large leaves around the edge. There are cattails on the stem. This is mostly the rich earthy colors of classic majolica but there are some pops of red in flowers here and there. The bottom has a number, it think it is 751. I don't know if this is English, French or American but I might guess either English or American. It's really a fabulous older piece and would make a great fall centerpiece. I have had it on a table with led candles at my entryway and it made a statement! See less

I have shown a photo of the chip, but when the piece sits upright you cannot see the chip. Some of the glazing looks to be dull and you can see this in the photos. I do not know if this is the way it was made or if it is due to age. less
