Large 8 Quart … Read more This Really is an Exceptionally Nice Authentic Antique American Country Primitive Dry Measure. Circa Mid 19th Century. Large 8 Quart - 2 Gallon Size. This Would have been Used to Measure Grains, Rice, Beans, Seeds, Flour, Etc. They were Typically Used in Country Stores - Wholesalers & Retailers - Farms Etc. It is Completely and Substantially Hand Made with Steam Bent Oak Sides with a Added Bolstered Top Rim - Hoop that Also Would Have been Used as a Grip - Handle as Used. The Bottom is Also Bolstered with a Hand Wrought Iron Hoop - Ring. It has No Markings. It is in Very Good - Strong & Sound Condition. It Has Been Used Extensively Over the as the Top Rim Imperfections Indicate. The Exterior Has Old Varnish that has Developed a Wonderful Rustic Aged Color & Patina. It Displays Very Nicely and it Has that Honest Aged and Used Look that Cannot be Duplicated. The Interior has Old Brick Red Paint that has Been Added at Some Point in the Past. NOTE that The Round Wood Bottom Panel Also Appears to have Been Replaced - Restored at Some Point in the Past - See Last - 12th Photograph.
It Measures Overall Approx. 7 1/4 inches Tall x 11 3/4 inches Wide - Long at Top Rim.
