Vintage; Attributed to Baccarat, is this monumentally tall and large, Grand Palais Vase. A fabulous example of a French blue opaline palace urn, or vase, with gilt gold detailed design motif, with garland and festoons, greek key, and gold rimmed base surround. A unique piece onto itself, from the Belle Epoque era of high, esteem accentuated style. When we found this in an Estate Sale, upon turning to view this stunning, ornate, and sophisticated piece of historical, French blue opaline, we instantly researched the references, to distinguish the provenance maker, which this is attributed to. Beyond the fact the "only," alterations, were to cut off the 3-4" off the flared, open top, which was badly broken. We took to professional artist, glass company to cut off the top, where it was broken in a jagged form, and professionally polished the top opening as you see it today. We were also informed; that the blue opaline, when was originally blown, the body was made separate to the upper portion, as the brass metal collar place upon the end of body of urn, then the top portion was blown, and fitted into an inner groove of brass collar, whereupon the top of the bottom portion fit into a creviced area of brass collar, and the upper portion also had a separate, creviced groove in which the top end of it, fit inside the collar, separate, but as a protective, and adorned measure, to offset, the thickness of the blue opaline glass, but also the oversized aspect to it, so it may survive many years and generations. Essentially a work of art from period of traditional, high style, that pops out. The blue opaline cast either lighter or darker hues, depending upon the natural light on given days. We also left the brass collar patina, to show age, although may be polished.
In great condition, minor crease or dimple crease to glass near brass collar, indicative to hand blown process, fitting the brass collar within the two pieces, period, use, and normal wear, otherwise great.
The Gilt Gold portions of design motif are in excellent condition.

We didn't want to see this wonderful piece of history in a heap; so we took it to professional glass company, that scored off the broken aspect to the top, and professionally polished the top, otherwise in great condition from all the years less
