A Scandinavian art pottery vase with a Loistomarmori marbled luster glaze from the Arabia Porcelain Factory of Helsinki, Finland (Arabia … Read more A Scandinavian art pottery vase with a Loistomarmori marbled luster glaze from the Arabia Porcelain Factory of Helsinki, Finland (Arabia Porslinsfabrik Aktiebolag) and dating 1928-1932. The vase mimics a classical amphora form with elegant Art Nouveau curved strap handles on either side of an attenuated cylindrical neck. The decor imitates natural marble so the vase appears to be carved out of stone. The luster glaze artfully combines a multicolored palette of golden coppery orange and glossy purples with white accents. The glaze is called Loistomarmori which translates to magnificent marble.

Very good condition with a black printed factory AAA tower mark on the base (for Arabia Aktiefabrik used between 1928 and 1932), over from number 199. The vase measures 9.5 in. height x 5 in. diameter.

Arabia was founded in 1873 in Helsinki, Finland and was originally a subsidiary of the Rorstrand Porcelain Factory of Sweden. See less
