From the early 1800’s into the early 1900’s, most French homes had a set of Rebus dessert plates. Solving the puzzle provided entertainment and conversation to the table after a traditionally long meal. The solution is printed on the verso of the plate.

A double band of French Blue lining borders a raised shell form embossed rim with the rebus in the center of the plate.
7.75″ Diameter

Circa 1841 to 1876, marked Creil et Montereau.
Light signs of wear to the surface, some minor rough rims, no chipping or hairlines. See less
