Created in China during the second half of the 20th century, this unusual armchair is made of camphor wood which was then varnished with a natural lacquer. This wood was in fact carved to create a seat among the roots of an actual camphor tree. The knotted aspect of the chair is contrasted by the very polished finish whose natural aspect enhances the wood grain beautifully.
