This is a Great Looking Authentic Early American Primitive 1 Gallon Size Stoneware Jug. Circa Early 19th Century - Approx 1830. The Front is Embossed by the Well Documented Maker N. WHITE - UTICA ( New York). It is Rendered in the Classic Ovoid Style - Shape. It is Hand Decorated in Blue with a Stylized Flower ? and a "1" that Denotes it 1 Gallon Liquid Storage Capacity. These Types of Smaller Size Jugs were Typically Used to Store Spirits, Ciders, Water, Etc. It is in Very Nice All Original - Strong & Sound Condition - Displays Beautifully. Imperfection Noted - It has a Very Old Grout Patch to a Small Hole on the Right Side - Mid Section - See Last Photograph. It also has Numerous Surface Kiln Glaze Imperfections - Spots, Glaze Drips at Top Handle Area and a Small Iron Ping Surface Chip All of Which Would Have Occurred in the Making - Firing Process. This Types of Utilitarian Stoneware Items were Fired in Large Kilns in Batches with Many Other Pieces at the Same Time and These Types of Flaws are Quite Common. A True Piece of Early Americana.
It Measures Overall Approx. 12 Tall x 8 inches Long - Wide.
