It … Read more This lovely, vintage Asian black lacquer jewelry box was made in the late 20th century, likely circa the 1970's. It features beautifully detailed mother of pearl inlay depicting a traditional landscape scene with figures crossing a bridge, stylized mountains, water, birds, and a pagoda pavilion. You can see the inlay fully decorates the top of the box and extends down the front side. The glossy black lacquer exterior contrasts dramatically with the iridescent shell inlay, which shines and reflects the light so beautifully. Inside, I love the surprise pop of vivid red velvet and the super cute purple tassel pulls. You can see that there is a lot of storage and display flexibility with multiple compartments, a lift-up interior tray, and a mirror mounted inside the lid, making it both decorative and highly functional for jewelry or keepsakes.
