How do you clean a velvet sofa?

In order to clean a velvet sofa that has encountered a spill, do the following steps: First, blot up as much of the spill as you can with a dry cloth before following up with a lint-free cloth dipped in a bubbly solution composed of a few drops of dish soap dissolved in a cup or two of water. Then, let the spot air dry before steaming the entire sofa with a hand-held steamer. Make sure to move the steamer quickly, and don’t let it hover over any one spot for more than a second or two. Lastly, follow up with an all-over swipe of a lint brush to brush all of the velvet fibers upwards. This technique will generally remedy any spill if caught quickly enough. Deeper stains may require the assistance of a professional cleaner. For regular maintenance, clean a velvet sofa periodically with a vacuum’s soft brush attachment. Run the brush attachment over the frame of the sofa as well as the seat and back cushions. Fluff your cushions as you vacuum and flip and rotate them to ensure that they wear evenly. Even wear will prevent thread-baring, which can make it easier for stains to set permanently.
