About

Shop Banner

Award winning Los Angeles-based design studio with a commitment to integrated approach, achieving the optimum result by working with different disciplinary fields. The studio does not approach a project with a defined style, but aims to provide a solution that is architecturally coherent for the client’s lifestyle and needs, and in harmony with the site's surroundings. The studio has designed and constructed residential, commercial and hospitality projects throughout Southern California and beyond.

Founded by May Sung AIA, LEED AP, NCARB, SUBU Design Architecture is noted for its collaborative spirit with the client, consultants, artisans, and builders. May was born in Taiwan and raised in Southern California. She earned her Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley and her Master of Architecture at Harvard University. She had the honor to represent the United States of America as a Fulbright Scholar to Hong Kong SAR in 1996. She is inspired by her travels and her interest in art and nature. There is no separation between interior and exterior. Every aspect of the site needs to be consider as whole.

Currently the studio is working on a Palm Springs Historical boutique hotel, a central coast horse ranch, and various ground up luxury residences in Southern California and Aspen, CO.
