In its literal sense, it refers to a traditional method of coloring textile fibers or yarns before they are woven, rather than dyeing the finished cloth afterward. By dyeing the fiber or yarn first, color becomes integral to the textile itself—rich, enduring, and woven into its very character.
Over time, dyed in the wool took on a figurative meaning: describing someone who is authentic, steadfast, loyal, and true through and through.
