Developed from a spring of curiosity and the craft of working with metals, Lumfardo, a family run business, evolved out of Gonzalo Catasus' attention to detail and innate sensitivity to the designs of Mid-Century European and American lighting craftwork. Originally from Argentina, Gonzalo immigrated to the United States in 2001. Initially trained as an apprentice with a lighting master here in Los Angeles, Gonzalo was asked to carry the legacy of the business when his teacher passed away from illness. Over the course of the last 15 years Gonzalo has restored vintage European lighting for many of the world's most trusted furniture and lighting dealers. Through this close relationship with the materials and finishes used by the designers of European lore, Gonzalo developed an astute eye and a cultivated ability to custom fabricate beautiful lighting in this spirit while maintaining an eye on contemporary advances. While traveling to Italy in 2010 Gonzalo took Lumfardo to the next level by opening a small studio in Pesaro, Italy with his sister Maria creating a direct link between the source of his inspiration and the studio that Gonzalo runs with his wife Johanna in Los Angeles. Lumfardo offers a beautiful collection of vintage pieces at our atelier on Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles.
As a dealer we try to restore vintage pieces back to their glory, contribute to the design world with our contemporary lighting line, and act as a source for creators to materialize their vision.
