Christin Terrell of King's House Oriental Rugs is a leading voice in rug history and contemporary textile design. Taking her knowledge of antique rug design and construction, she has created a collection of modern rugs that take ancient methods and marries them with contemporary palettes and rule-defying textures.
Our Farmer Collection is created with wool sourced from the beloved Turkish countryside, washed in the local hot springs, and dyed with the vegetables grown in the weavers' gardens. A group of women weaving side-by-side uses techniques passed down from their mothers, tying seamless knots in unison. All at once, their work is complete; the rug is cut off the loom and sent for sunning in a nearby village.
Tea is served.
This rhythm, this reverence, this dedication to the craft.
This is King's House.
The beauty of their origins is what we love most about our oriental rugs: “Immersing yourself in the where the who, and the why … we can’t imagine anything more beautiful.” - Christin Terrell, Owner, and Curator
