Reclamation Art& Design Principle Alison “ Christopher ” Schwartz is a 5th Generation Furniture Artisan.. His Great, Great Grandfather, Valentine Schwartz was a Cabinet Maker arriving from Germany in 1850. He set up a cabinet shop in Lehighton, Pennsylvania He made cabinets, coffins, and household furniture items for Coal Miners during the anthracite boom. The business grew and served generations of Pennsylvania families. The direct descendants of Valentine have been involved in every aspect of the furniture business for over 173 years. Chris is a craftsman dedicated to easing environmental challenges by restoring, repurposing, and redesigning preowned furniture and household wares. His partner, Jessica Darling, is the granddaughter of celebrated German woodcarver Edward Haack.. Her eye for ornamentation and detail is evident in her specialty frames and hand-carved pieces made entirely from reclaimed wood sources The company’s mandate is the use of reclaimed and repurposed furniture and materials to restore and create ecologically curated, unique items using distinct color variants and finishes.
