    About

At AJS we allow our clients’ individual lifestyles and sites to inspire the feeling of their spaces. The "style" that results, is unique for each project. We understand the elements that go into both modern and classic interiors, and move easily between the two creating compelling environments that truly work for both the owners and their spaces. Our keen eye for curating innovative materials, exceptional furnishings and objects invite each owner to engage with their dwelling. These are settings that are meant to be used, elegant but never precious, getting better with time.

Abby Shachat, opened AJS in 1992. She is a graduate of Cornell University and earned her MFA from the iconic Cranbrook Academy of Art. The office is located in the heart of NYC's flower district in a converted loft, once home to one of the many fur manufacturers in the area. It offers us an inspiring headquarters where we meet with clients and are part of the city’s vibrant history.

A winner of Luxe Magazine’s Readers Choice Award, AJS’s work speaks to people who appreciate sophistication, warmth and livability.
