I am a former interior designer with a fascination in the history of where industry and craft intersect. In our modern world of fast fashion and online trends, it can sometimes be difficult to see where these elements meet anymore.
As the name of my shop would suggest, I have a soft spot for chairs. Something as mundane as sitting has long challenged designers to create highly engineered objects that feel good and look good. The first chair that found me was an Eames DCM chair at a garage sale, the chrome legs covered in rust spots and paint splatter on the seat. The poor thing came home with me to be celebrated again, and I comfortably sit on this piece of history while I type this.
I look for the objects in our lives that hold memories of human ingenuity, craftmanship, and quite simply, evoke personal memories.
