Whether Johnny's out marching or flying, it's always good to have a picture of him on the buffet or desk, to remind oneself how courageous and selfless he was when he's gone off to war.
His picture will stir romantic feelings, and just to make sure, it's encased in a heart-shaped window. That window might have had a very thin piece of glass in it, or not; it doesn't now, but it could be added.
I wouldn't be surprised it this frame is approximately 100 years old.
