Very good undamaged condition, with light signs of wear and a few burnt areas to the surface, typical of the firing process for these vessels.
Exhibiting a rich patina, this redware vessel shows many telltale signs of pottery. Speckled with imperfections, the vessel's warm red-orange coloration was achieved by applying a mineral-rich slip for a monochrome finish. The slip layer was then carefully etched to create the fantastic geometric pattern on the jar's rounded shoulders. Although the precise date of the piece is unknown, this vessel remains an exquisite example of artistry.
