Printed in 1984 to accompany the retrospective exhibition of the artworks of Max Beckmann at The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, St. Louis Museum of Art, National Galerie Berlin, and Haus Der Kunst Munich.

The lithograph print poster features an original painting created by Beckmann in 1923 titled " Dance in Baden - Baden ".

Max Beckmann ( 1884 - 1950 ) German born painter, printmaker, sculptor, and writer is commonly defined as an Expressionist, although he rejected both the term and the movement. In the 1920's he was associated with the New Objectivity " an outgrowth of Expressionism that opposed its introverted emotions. Beckmann is attributed with creating some of the most personal and authentic versions of Modernist paintings of the 20th Century.
