The … Read more A really is a great looking Antique American Blue Decorated Stoneware 2 Gallon Spirits Jug. Circa Late 19th Century. The Front is Embossed with a Blue Highlighted Embossed Swimming Swan on a Salt Glaze Exterior. Note that The Embossed Swan is the Documented the Maker Mark of The GARDINER STONEWARE MANUFACTORY in GARDINER MAINE. It is Also Embossed with the Number 2 Denoting the Two Gallon Storage Capacity Size. It is in Very Good Strong - Sound Condition with No Cracks - Displays Beautifully. It has a Small Chip at the Spout Area as well as a Chip at the Lower Handle Area - Please See Photographs. Stoneware Items Such at These Were Made for Everyday Utilitarian Use so Minor Chips are Quite Common. There is a Surface Kiln glaze imperfection - Spot on One Side but these are Normal and would Have Occurred in the making - firing process. There is Also a Stain Line On the Back that Also Appears to be a Kiln Flaw.
It Measures 14 1/2 inches Tall x 8 3/4 inches Long - Wide.
