Originating from a temple in India, this architectural element was handcrafted in the 19th century. The sculpture depicts a woman wearing a headdress topping her elegant braided hair, her calm face tilted slightly towards the ground. Her right arm is brought up behind her head and her left hand rests on her thigh. The torsion of her body, created by the placement of her feet one behind the other, creates a very lively effect. She is wearing a short tunic, accented with traces of polychromy. The ensemble is resting on a worn circular base.
