Created in India during the 19th century, this wooden piece was originally used to hand make noodles. Showcasing a vice press, the body is adorned with a carved elephant whose head and behind expand from a central square. This container is where the dough was placed and the vice part would press it into noodles. The elephant head is carved with subtle motifs, such as a jewel on the forehead. The trunk is tucked in. The sides are adorned with medallions adorned with foliage or a rosette.
