Hammered brass Champagne cooler by Mathias Willig, handmade in Freising, Bavaria.
This Champagne cooler is handmade in hammered brass with round knob handles and dates most likely to the 1930s (possibly earlier). Full of detail, this is an all around phenomenal object and a beautiful example of impeccable craftsmanship.
excellent condition with some patina as to be expected with age, could be polished to a bright finish.

engraving at the top, DOT and BILL on opposite sides.
About:
In 1908 a young Mathias Willig started a workshop inGermany in Munich-Sendling specializing in metalwork. After outgrowing this original shop, he moved to Freising, Bavaria in 1929 and established a larger factory. This piece most likely dates from the 1930s.
