This beautiful mid-twentieth century Art Glass bowl is a creation of Paul Kedelv who designed it in 1959 at the … Read more This beautiful mid-twentieth century Art Glass bowl is a creation of Paul Kedelv who designed it in 1959 at the famous Feygefors glass works in Sweden. It is one of his famous "Coquilie" series that was produced in the 1950s. This piece is an authentic and a unique one of a kind individually blown glass bowl that is unlike any other bowl.. On the underside (bottom) of the bowl is engraved "Coquilie" and "Flygsfors - 59".
The bowl is an exciting piece to behold in that the glass is thick and heavy. Yet, it has a beautiful and graceful flowing lines, shapes and forms, like that of lava. The glass has both translucent and opaque areas. The colors of green, gray-green and white appear within the body of the work. The art glass appears to be organic, like a piece of sculpture rather than a functional bowl.
Paul Kedelv (1917-1990), was one of Sweden's leading glass artists. His Art Glass is represented in the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design and his work is highly collectible. The bowl would look fabulous in a modern setting however, if would look stunning as a focal point in other room settings. See less
