Right: titled 'Lotte' is a scene from 'The Sorrows of Young Werther', a love story novel by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 – 1832) and is a richly detailed depiction of Werther opening the front door to take Lotte out to a ball, but finds her surrounded by chaos of her young siblings left in her care after the loss of their mother.

The other, titled 'Dorothea' is based on an epic poem 'Hermann and Dorothea', also by Goethe, is the story of a wealthy man's son Hermann wishing to marry Dorothea, an impoverished refugee, as he struggles with his own family's opposition to their union.
It is a beautiful scene of the couple with stars and lightening in the background.
