Pair antique 18th century French Mennecy Blanc de Chine porcelain tobacco jars decorated with relief molded prunus circa 1750. The lids with silver mounted rims. Measure 6" tall x 3 3/4" diameter. Good condition - one lid repaired; one jar with short hairline. Display beautifully and fully functional.
Each bears a label from "The Antique Porcelain Co., Inc., NY". The bases marked with incised DV for duc de Villeroy.
Provenance: Sold Sotheby's New York, The Estate of Mrs. Paul Mellon, November 21 - 23, 2014 lot 1105. Bunny Mellon was an avid collector and gardener at Oak Spring Farm and Estate in Virginia.
