It Comes From the Classic Victorian … Read more This is a Absolutely Beautiful - Very Fine Quality Antique Silver Plate Serving Tray. It Comes From the Classic Victorian Era - Circa Late 19th Century. It is Rendered in a Massive - Monumental Size Measuring 36 Inches Long Handle to Handle x 21 1/4 Inches Wide. The Base - Bottom is Footed ( 4 ) and It Measures 3 3/4 inches Tall at The Handles. The Bolstered Handles Depict The Wine God Bacchus in Bold - High Relief. The Center of the Tray is Decorated in Beautifully All Hand Engraved Design with the Finest of Detail that Could Only Have Been Executed by A Master Engraver. It has Exceptionally Fine Detail in All of The Features that Can Only Really Be Appreciated When in Hand - My Photographs Do Not Do It Justice. It is Made Out of an Extremely Heavy Solid Cast Hard Metal that is Silver Plated in the Traditional English Sheffield Silverplate Style. NOTE! That It Actually Weighs Approx. 16 Pounds. It Is Signed - Has Maker a Tiny S.G. Mark ? as Well as a Tiny "Chalice" Profile Mark that I Was Not Able To Identify. In My Considered Opinion it is European - Most Likely Made in The Sheffield England Region. It is in Strong - Sound - Perfectly Usable Condition with No Damage - No Repairs However as You Can See The Silver Plated Finish on the Top Does have High Point Wear in Some Areas Revealing the Hard Metal Underneath. This Would have Occurred as a Result of Being Polished Numerous Times Over the Years. It is Moderately Tarnished on the Top Surface with Heavy Tarnish on The Bottom - Underside. It has No Added or Removed Monograms.
