19th Century French Empire Style Walnut Armchair reflects the more restrained aspects that eventually became known as the Directoire style, yet was made during the Second Empire in accordance with Napoleon III's general revival of all French styles over the course of his reign and influence. Hand-crafted from fine French walnut that is ever so scarce and expensive in today's world, it features a very tailored architecture yet remains surprisingly comfortable thanks to the concave smooth, rounded seat back, ergonomically contoured uprights and generously sized seats, especially combined with the scrolled armrests. The legs are gracefully curved outward for a visual style effect that also enhances the chair's stability. Three toned upholstery is in serviceable condition but easily replaced with your coordinating fabric.
