Its broad, rounded … Read more An impressive vintage Moroccan brass chandelier, handcrafted circa 1960, combining intricate pierced metalwork with a sculptural silhouette. Its broad, rounded body narrows into an elongated pendant terminating in a lobed finial, while a crown of shaped Moorish arches defines the upper rim.

The brass panels are densely decorated with hand-cut floral rosettes, scrolling arabesques and fine chased ornament. Small milky glass insets punctuate the openwork, adding subtle contrasts of texture and translucency. A warm bronze-toned patina emphasizes the craftsmanship and gives this substantial hanging light an appealing aged character.

Suspended from three chains beneath a coordinating ceiling canopy, the chandelier measures 52 inches in total hanging height, with a 33-inch-high brass body and a 29-inch diameter. Rewired for electrical use, it allows light to filter through the pierced decoration, highlighting the metalwork and creating an atmospheric glow.

This large Moroccan pendant light would make a distinctive focal point in an entrance hall, dining room or generously proportioned living space. Its Moorish detailing complements Spanish Colonial, Mediterranean and eclectic interiors, recalling the richly layered decorative settings associated with Alberto Pinto.
