Utilizing various shades of walnut and satinwood, the two surfaces feature oriented grain for added visual appeal, with the top boasting a border around minute parquetry canvas upon which the woodworker expressed his art insetting and orienting different shades of wood to create a visual image of a floral bouquet. The contours of the apron all around contrast with the straighter horizontal line of the shelf below, yet both surfaces were designed with a kidney shape creating a lot of surface for a table that is less than a foot deep overall. Subtly scrolled legs provide support, and the entire work is accentuated with brass castings and edging for an opulent touch.
